Z-Strain LC Information
Liquid culture syringes (also sometimes called ISO’s) contain mushroom genetics that are more stabilized than normal multispore syringes (MSS). Great care has been taken to isolate the strongest, fastest, and most hardy genetics that will provide vigorous and more consistent research under the microscope. Multispore syringes contain a great deal of genetic diversity, and therefore can present a multitude of different phenotypes. On the other hand, liquid culture syringes have been stabilized in order to present a more uniform phenotype which will provide the most optimized and consistent research.
In our opinion, the mystery behind the beginnings of Z-Strain makes it even more fun to work with and study! Whichever origin story you believe, if any, one thing is for sure- these genetics belong in every researcher’s library. They’re great for beginner and advanced researchers alike because Z-Strain spores are easy to work with but also provide results that pack a punch! They can also handle a wide range of temperatures and humidity levels and still generate robust and healthy research.
Microscopic Features
Z-Strain spores can vary in color from dark purple to black. They’re are subellipsoid (ellipse) shaped and they are present on a 4-spored basidia. The caps range from 40-60mm in diameter with a convex to conic shape. Generally, Z-Strain Mushrooms leave behind very dark prints which makes them excellent for providing future research specimens.
